Folding Section
he
trouble with a bike is what to do with it when you are not riding it! There
have been lots of ideas for folding bicycles, each one is different but the aim
is always the same - a bike you can tuck away or pick up and take through the
front door or into the office or put into the boot of your car.
In addition to the regular displays in this section, an enhanced
exhibition is running until the end of March 2004. Items include
a 1941 BSA Paratroop Folding Bicycle displayed in original
condition and an early demountable Dursley Pedersen
lead into the Folding Section. Raleigh, Bickerton,
Coventry Eagles and Moultons are well represented in this section
together with many other models. You can even
see the Strida with its rubber belt transmission which folds
down to little bigger than a brief case! The jewel in this
section is the only display in the
world showing the development of the Airframe,
together with design drawings and advertising material, they
trace the evolution of these machines from
the first prototype through to early production models to the
latest high tech designs. |
