From Howey take the Hundred
House road at Crossways. Ride up & over the Rogo (almost 360 degree
panoramic views) past the Quarry (you could go off road to the Bwlch-Llwyn to
rejoin the road) down to the court and left at Pendre. Carry on along this lane
which has lovely hillside on left and open countryside on the right. Cycle over
the cattle grid and you will see Standing Stones on the right, keep going until
you reach Bridge House. Left here past St. Marys Church to Glanoer and up on to
Bwlchau stay on this lane until you reach Brynthomas. Left at Brynthomas you
are now on cycle route No. 25. The views here are stunning and you'll probably
see the native bird of Powys the Red Kite soaring above. Down to
Shaky Bridge. You could stop a while and view the bridge & lovely Old
Church of Cefnllys just over the bridge in the field. Continue on into the
County Town of Llandrindod Wells. Turn left onto the A483 and you will see the
National Cycle Collection on this corner. If you are not taking in the
Collection then turn left for the Lake and continue up to the Golf links. The
views of Radnorshire are quite breath taking here, when you are past the 9th
green turn right at Ty Gwyn Bach. Please close the gates (3) past Brynhir Farm
and back down the high banked lane to Howey. |
