New Exhibits

he National Cycle Collection has a continuous input of new exhibits from donations and acquisitions. These are prepared and placed in a constantly evolving display.

New exhibits for 2007 include the rare c1881 Royal Salvo Tricycle (similar to the machine presented to Queen Victoria at Osborne House),  a reproduction of the 1880s Pentacycle ("Hen and Chickens") kindly loaned by the Postal Museum, a carbon fibre tandem and solo used by Bruce Bursford  for rolling road records and a Display of Components showing examples of various bicycle components throughout the ages.  There has been a re-arrangement of the display of approximately 65 classic and touring bicycles from 1940-1980.  Additional machines on display include Davey Racing Tandem, Dawes Milk Race bicycle (juvenile size) and some racing trikes.

There is a fine collection of 1500 club badges alphabetically arranged and framed. Come and see if yours is here!

The NCC is proud to have in its collection the bicycle ridden by Mr George Nightingale when he achieved the record breaking time of less than one hour for 25 miles in 1939.

Now on display Chris Boardman Lotus Sport Olympic Replica which was used as a reserve machine together with the 1992 Olympic racing skin.
