School Visits
he
National Cycle Collection welcomes visits by Schools and Colleges. Primary
School children find visits fascinating and are generally reluctant to leave.
These visits are an ideal aid to sections of The National Curriculum. 6th form
students find a wealth of technical information available, inspiring new ideas.
A pupil from the acclaimed Thomas Telford School is in the process of gaining a
patent for a device he invented having visited the collection.
During 2001 a
successful programme of visits by the NCC to local Schools
took place. Funding is currently being sought to continue these
visits in the future.
Statement
Changes to the legislation with
regard to people working unsupervised with young persons has taken place, this involved the introduction of Police screening.
This legislation does not affect the NCC directly, as School visits are
supervised, however to avoid any confusion and to assist in the administration
of arranging visits, The Curator, Mr. David Higman has voluntarily undergone
successful Police screening.
